Introduction. Modern demographic challenges in Russia, including birth rate and population declining, require comprehensive solutions. Business can play a special role in improving the situation by implementing a corporate demographic policy. Studying the genesis of ideas about business engagement will make it possible to analyze the patterns and mechanisms that determine the role of business in society and evaluate the existing approaches.
Materials and methods. The library of corporate practices of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs from 2009 to 2025 has been used as a source of information for the case study analysis. It allows to get an idea of the dynamics and variety of measures applied in Russian companies.
Results. The study, conducted on the basis of the data from the library of corporate practices of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs and RSCI publications, made it possible to assess the evolution of ideas for business participation in solving demographic problems. The data of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs show a steady interest of companies in measures to support family workers, with an increase in their share from 43% to 55% in the last five years and an expansion of the range of areas. The result of the consideration of the genesis of business participation ideas in solving demographic issues was the presentation of the author's approach to the evolution of corporate demographic policy, which includes three stages: the beginning of business participation (2002–-2012); the development of a systematic approach to support family workers (2013–2019); modern challenges and the adaptation of family policy (2020 – present).
Discussion. The study shows that Russian corporate support for family workers has transformed from individual initiatives to the systematic solutions, reflecting the growing importance of the private sector in addressing demographic issues and the transition to corporate demographic policy. The difference in the conditions of the emergence and development of the practice of supporting family workers in Russia and other countries leads to the development of its own approach to the periodization of business participation, regardless of foreign models.
In the study, the chronological framework of evolution does not include the Soviet era due to the centralization of the socio-demographic policy of this period. Also, the limited information base of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs requires additional study of corporate practices of Russian enterprises.
